We had a great weekend racing and showing at RFF’s CWA meets in Abbotsford, BC!
Lark won the conformation match both days! Thank you judges Mary Downing (Whimsy) and Barb Barclay (Fireworks)! Pictured at right winning a CWA match last month under judge Carole Adley (Hilerica), Lark is currently the #1 CWA conformation whippet! Winning these matches is fun and gratifying, but even more rewarding is the incredible sense of teamwork and rapport I feel when I’m at the end of this incredibly willing bitch’s show lead as she shows her heart out. Not just another pretty face, she raced very well too, running a grade B score on Saturday and actually finishing higher in the standings than her speedier brother, just out of the top 10 in 11th place.
Tiercel outdid himself on Sunday, finishing 5th in the meet, and earning the top set of 5 ARX points! He ran the race of his life in the 4th program semi; what a thrill it was to see him power over the finish line to win convincingly in a crucial race. I knew winning that race would put him in contention for at least the bottom points but it wasn’t until the high point was over that I realized it gave him the top set, and I was moved to tears by the celebratory cheers and hugs from my friends judging at the finish line. This brings him to 10 points total, and he needs only 5 more to finish his championship.
Thanks, RFF, for another incredible weekend of fun, food, friendship and fine racing! We’re looking forward to more of the same in a few weeks when we head to Nottingham, PA to attend the CWA National!
