2008 NAWRA National

by Beth on September 22, 2008

We attended the 2008 NAWRA National and NOTRA Whippet Derby over the weekend of September 12-14, at the Roy Polo Field in Roy, WA. What a competitive and fun National! Kudos to WWRC for putting on such a fun and memorable event.

The weekend started off with the conformation match on Friday, where I was thrilled to show Lark to Best Opposite Sex Adult under breeder judge Lisa Costello!

Unfortunately, with Lark in season, and Tiercel nursing a minor toe injury, neither of my current racers was able to participate in the rest of theĀ  weekend’s festivities. Luckily, little Kestrel, who only recently started her racing career, was available to step up to the plate as designated hitter for the Serendipity team!

Kestrel raced very well, finishing both the NAWRA and the NOTRA meet (her first complete oval!) somewhere between the bottom and middle ten and earning 10 SR points and 10 OTR points for the weekend. She had a blast! I can honestly say, with Kestrel I don’t care where she finishes in the final standings, I am just so thrilled and proud that she is finally confident enough to run in competition.

Thank you Shannon Pfifer of That’ll Do Photography for these great photos from the National!
