Portfolio
In addition to the Serendipity Whippets website, here are some other websites I’ve designed and maintain, listed alphabetically with a brief bio about each project. If you have any questions about any of these projects, please feel free to email me at serendipitywhippets@gmail.com.
Artistic Sandblasting NW

My very first non-dog website! In late 2009, local contractor and artist Bernie Clites contacted me about designing a simple website for her custom rock engraving business, Artistic Sandblasting NW where she could feature information about and photo examples of her projects. I really enjoyed working with her to design this WordPress-driven website.
ASFA Region 1

I volunteered to create the ASFA Region 1 website in early 2003 to promote communication between local clubs and provide a central location for PDF premium lists for local ASFA events. It quickly grew to include information about all sighthound events in the Northwest. For its first five years, the site was an originally designed static website, but was converted to WordPress in the fall of 2008.
Belaya Whippets

In 2009, I converted Carol Chittum’s Belaya Whippets website from a static site to a wordpress site, running a customizable theme, and heavily utilizing the brilliant NextGen Gallery plugin for photo galleries. Still a work in progress, the site development has included reorganization and conversion of existing content, as well as new and updated content.
Cascade Coursing Club

Cascade Coursing Club is an AKC coursing club in Washington state. I took over maintenance of the CCC website in early 2009, and suggested a simple stylistic redesign to brighten up the site. I worked with the club to find a pre-designed free template, which I further customized, and converted their existing content to the new design. A relatively simple static site, its use of bold colors makes an engaging user experience.
The Dogworks

I have been training my own dogs at The Dogworks since the mid-90s, and worked there as an instructor from around 1998 to 2008. The Dogworks’ original website was badly outdated and, in 2007, I suggested a redesign could really liven up their online presence and provide a more professional appearance. I located a pre-designed free template by Andreas Viklund, which I further customized, and converted their existing text to the new design.
Jammin’ Whippets

Local whippet enthusiast Laurel Wilks of Jammin’ Whippets asked me to take over maintenance of her website in 2005 after its initial design and launch by a local web design company. While I cannot claim credit for the original design, I have since done some modifications to improve navigation and organization.
Large Gazehound Racing Association

The Board of Directors of the Large Gazehound Racing Association approached me about redesigning their existing site to provide a more organized website that they could more easily update on their own. Running on WordPress, the site includes a dynamic embedded Google Calendar for management of LGRA events, a dynamic club directory and a documents library.
Treadway Whippets

I created this website for local whippet enthusiast Jeanette Dorsey of Treadway Whippets. Still a work in progress, this is a static site based on a freely available CSS template, chosen by Jeanette, and which I customized and enhanced to meet her specifications.
Treasure Chest Sighthounds

This static website, still a work in progress, is an original design for local whippet and sighthound enthusiast Jenette Mackey-Gersich of Treasure Chest Sighthounds.
Western Washington Whippet Association

In 2008, I converted WWWA‘s previous, plainly designed, static website to a dynamic site driven by WordPress. This website serves as both an informational site about the club and its activities as well as an online newsletter that has replaced the club’s old print and PDF online newsletter.
Whimsy Whippets

In 2009, longtime local whippet breeder Mary Downing of Whimsy Whippets asked me to put together a simple, clean and organized website to feature her dogs. I found what I thought was the perfect free website template to achieve the look she wanted, and luckily she loved it as much as I did. This static site was the first on which I deployed the lightbox JS script for displaying photos, but will certainly not be the last!
Windana Rhodesian Ridgebacks

I created this website for local Rhodesian Ridgeback enthusiast Pat Hess of Windana Rhodesian Ridgebacks. In 2010 I migrated the content and converted my original design to run in WordPress, allowing Pat to take over much of the news and content updates herself using that very flexible publishing platform.
Wistwind Warm-Ups

My friend Carolyn Mountan of Wistwind Whippets and Wistwind Warm-Ups asked me to help with her website, and she consented to let me redesign and move the site to its own domain. We enjoyed a comfortable arrangement for many years whereby I maintained her site in exchange for her beautiful hand-made whippet coats and other products. Unfortuntely, Carolyn passed away in March 2009 and her site is now offline. I feature it here in honor of her memory. Carolyn will always be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her, and now I’ll have to find somewhere else to buy my whippet coats…
