Ringer was born the day Owen died and bears more than just a passing resemblance to his namesake. Grateful thanks to Pat Ciccarello and Robin Barry for sharing him with me! He is a delightful addition to our home and entertains us all with his antics. Ringer possesses beautiful type and soundness, a delightful bold and outgoing temperament, is deadly keen and focused on the lure, and is a fanatical retriever of frisbees, tennis balls, or anything else!
In the Ring…
Ringer earned his first show points in his very first shows as a puppy in Canada, and finished his Canadian Championship in April 2005, owner handled all the way. Along the way, he had some nice wins, including a 5 point Best of Winners.
In the Field…
Ringer was Best of Breed in his ASFA debut in September 2003. In his 2nd ASFA trial, he won his 2nd BOB. He finished his ASFA title in April 2004 with his 3rd BOB and went on to Best in Field. He earned all four firsts towards his LCM in his first year running as a Field Champion, and finished his LCM in October 2008 at the SISFA trials in Emmett, Idaho. In his only AKC lure coursing outing, an NCWFA trial in Oakland, CA, he finished 2nd to a huge 5 point major in an open stake of 20 whippets for 3 singles towards his AKC FC.
On the Track…
In his WRA debut in 2003 (one of the few WRA meets held in WA state), he finished SIXTH in the meet, running high grade B. In his NOTRA debut the next day, he just missed finishing in the top 10 with an 11th place finish, again running grade B. He finished his NOTRA OTR title in the minimum 3 meets and after only one WRA meet needed just one meet point to finish his CR title, which he would have finished easily except that no more WRAs have been offered in the NW since! In just a year of running NOTRA, in the minimum number of meets to finish the title, he easily finished his OTRM. Ringer finished his NAWRA SR in September 2006 and his OTRM-2 in March 2007. In his prime, Ringer consistently ran high grade C to low grade B on the oval track in Northwest competition, and had the distinction of having earned top 10 finishes in all four racing organizations in which he competed: WRA, NAWRA, CWA and NOTRA.
Obedience…
Ringer is an enthusiastic worker and is trained partially through open/utility. He is currently preparing for his debut in the obedience ring in 2009. His next big goal is to earn his CD, which is all he needs to qualify for his AWC Award of Versatility. Stay tuned…
