Seven was my pick puppy from the Lark litter. Possibly the smartest puppy I’ve ever raised, she keeps me on my toes! She is bold and outgoing, smart and sassy, and deadly keen and serious on the lure. Even as a young puppy, when most are still gangly and uncoordinated, she had a beautiful, long-striding, coordinated running style. Long, smooth, athletic, sound, and balanced, she is everything I was hoping for when I bred Lark to Chili and I’m thrilled that she is living up to her early promise.

In the ring…

Seven made her first official appearance in the show ring at the 2010 CWA Annual Match in Aldergrove, BC at the tender age of not quite four months old, and finished 2nd in her big class of 3-6 month puppy bitches under breeder-judge Karen Lee of Surrey Hill whippets. She hasn’t been shown yet in official shows, as she is slow to mature and a “difficult” color, but she will be shown upon maturity to “color blind” breeder judges!

In the meantime she has gained valuable experience, and really made her mark in the CWA matches, earning all five DPC credits in her first nine meets, including a match win, and securing herself a spot in the 2011 year-end CWA Conformation Top-10. I was very proud that although she didn’t place in the CWA National match, she did made it down to the final cut of eight in that very competitive 30+ dog match judged by Rhonda Gold (Artemis).

On the track…

Seven’s early career on the straight track has surpassed my wildest expectations. Faster than her uncle Tiercel even in his prime, she possess not just an incredible racing “brain” allowing her to maintain calm focus and concentration before her races, but also the physical reserves to effortlessly shift into higher gears when challenged by fast competition. She is, in particular, a very strong second day racer. By the end of her first season of racing, really only three months from July through October 2010, she has earned 10.5 ARX points in her first nine meets, including a thrilling upset in her final race the day after the 2011 CWA National to earn her the bottom point in a very tough top heavy 54 dog meet! True to her dual purpose heritage, she earned both ARX points and the DPC credit on the same day for four of her five DPC credits.

The future…

We look forward to the 2012 racing season and look forward to the completion of Seven’s ARX. She will make her lure coursing debut once that title is completed. She will also participate in NAWRA and NOTRA racing, and hopefully make a few appearances in the show ring as well. Her future is very bright!

She is so beautiful and sounds like she is quite spunky! If and when she retires to the whelping box I’d love to be on that waitlist please and thank you.
