At 9 weeks, Levi went to live with Jim & Bonnie Goebel of Ragtime Whippets, in Aldergrove, BC. He made his lure coursing debut at the Lower Mainland Whippet Association trials in Abbotsford, BC in March 2005, winning his full stake in his very first trial. Later that weekend, he again won his full stake and Best of Breed. In his first weekend out running, he earned 80 points and both firsts towards his title. He finished up his Canadian field championship in his next outing, at the LMWA trials in May 2005. He was my first homebred field champion and finished 2005 as the CKC lure coursing #4 whippet and #4 hound.

Although he was certainly a talented lure courser, Levi’s true love was straight racing. He earned his first ARX point at the RFF CWA meet in Abbotsford, BC in May 2006, finishing 3rd in the meet! Piloted by Jim and Bonnie, he earned his first 5 ARX points and was also a CWA conformation match winner.

Levi was returned to me in late February 2007, when Bonnie was diagnosed with terminal cancer and passed away just three weeks later. Our deepest sympathy to the Goebel family and all of Bonnie’s devoted and cherished friends on her loss. When Levi came back to me, I decided to hang onto him for a while to do some racing in pursuit of his ARX, which he finished in July 2007 at the CWA meet in Farmington, MN.

In July 2007, Levi departed on his next big adventure, as the beloved companion of first-time whippet owners Lindsey Dubb and Brendan Stewart of Seattle. I look forward to sharing their happiness with their charming new companion for many years to come.
